Extra Pulmonary TB


Extra-pulmonary tuberculosis (EPTB) refers to disease at the site other than the lungs.

The commonest sites are listed as follows:

  • Lymph glands and abscesses particularly around the neck.
  • Bones and joints.
  • The spine.
  • Gastro-intestinal Tract
  • Uterus (in case of woman)
  • Abdomen, Urinary Bladder
  • Meninges (protective covering to the brain)
  • Pericardium (protective covering of the to heart)
  • Skin.
