The following measures would reduce the incidence of new cases of clinical tuberculosis

• Teaching TB patients to cough into cupped hands
• Wearing of tight- fitting mask by attending personnel
• Vaccination of newborns in an endemic area with an effective Bacillus Calmette Guérin (BCG ) strain
• Ensuring adequate air ventilation in rooms where TB patient is kept.
